TWILIGHT TOURS
BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo invites you to visit this summer for Twilight Tours every Tuesday and Thursday evening this June and July. Take a twilight tram ride through the Zoo in the cool of the evening. Enjoy a narrated ride through the Zoo, an animal encounter at the Wildlife Safari Theatre and an evening snack.

DOG DAY AT THE SWAMP
With our Dog Days, BSNC drops its “No Pets” policy and opens its doors and trails to pets once per season! All leashed pets are welcome, but vaccinations should be current.

SOLAR VIEWING
Weather permitting, personnel presents the Sun projected onto a white surface, directly via safely-filtered optical light and directly with a hydrogen-alpha telescope. Patrons are able to see any sizable sunspots or flares. Protective clothing and sunscreen recommended.

On these night visitors get something in addition to standard viewing: a sky tour, physical science demonstrations, filtered lunar trips, “birth” stars and a marshmallow roast.

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER
The Perseids are one of the major meteor showers of the year. Come join us and see if we can catch some “earthgrazers”! It is important that visitors come inside the building to receive instructions before setting up any chairs or blankets.

DUCK, DUCK, GOOSE DAY
Fly over to Bluebonnet Swamp for some end-of-summer
family fun. Explore the cultural, historical and artistic value of waterfowl carvings while viewing vintage and contemporary decoys, wood carvings, boats and paddles displayed by carvers and collectors from throughout the Deep South and beyond. Enjoy hands-on activities like the Waterfowl Identification Hike, the Carving Corner where visitors use soap to carve their own mini duck decoys, the Duck Box inflatable jump house, live baby ducklings in the Duck Pen, waterfowl-themed carnival prize booths, face-painting and more. Need more information about your decoy heirlooms? There will be plenty of experts on hand to assist in evaluating your waterfowl collectibles.

ZOO RUN RUN
Run like a cheetah to our annual Zoo Run Run 5K and 1⁄2 Mile Kids' Fun Run! At the run, enjoy the scenery as you scamper, trot or gallop your way through BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo. All proceeds from the race support your Baton Rouge Zoo and international cheetah conservation efforts. There will be food and refreshments for the whole family to enjoy after the race. And, anyone in your party who participates in the race or is there to support you, gains free admission to the Zoo as long as they're on site before admission gates open to the public at 9:30 a.m.
